VFW Post 2115
New Member Guide
Welcome to our Post!
Hi, my name's Nate and I'm the Post Commander. First, I want to thank you if I haven't already for joining our post. If you're coming back after a long absence, welcome home.
Be warned: This post is different.
We get together, we have fun, we distribute Poppy's, sell raffle stuff, all the normal VFW stuff, except we bring our families with us when we can. We all spent time without them when we had to, and I don't see a reason for our families to not be multipliers with us as we serve Veterans and our Community.
While we would love to get some of your time, I know everyone is busy with something. If you're brand new to the VFW, we would prefer that you not come to a meeting until after you come to one of our events.
See, told you we are different.
Meetings suck. They're not the reason we chose to join this Post or the VFW in general. Meetings are what we have to do, events and service to our community is what we get to do. Come out and join us when we're having fun, we'd rather have you there than watch your life drain from your body in yet another meeting...
Now, some history and standards.
VFW Post 2115 has been a part of the Hudson community since 1945, and we want you to be a part of our team for the long term! Our Post has earned ALL-AMERICAN and ALL-STATE honors for the last two years, specifically we have been the #2 Post in Wisconsin and a Nationally Recognized Post, we will maintain those honors. We need to look good when we are out in the community so people can easily identify us. That starts with the member cap, or “Overseas Cap” if you choose to buy nothing else, get this. It is the official headgear of the VFW, and the only headgear authorized to be worn during meetings. There is an alternative baseball style hat that you can wear to everything except during meetings. We have frequent events throughout the year, and we have a post polo (Talk to the Quartermaster, he has them) that we wear as a kind of uniform.
If you want to become a member of our Honor Guard, or are thinking about it, please order your nametag for your uniform and send an email to honorguard@vfwpost2115.org for more information.
Once you have ordered and received your items, email your invoice to quartermaster@vfwpost2115.org or bring the Quartermaster your invoice and you will be reimbursed for these items.
First things first- before you order anything, setup your ID.me account.
Setting this up will not only help you login easier to the VFW site and store, but will also allow you to sign in to other secure sites like the VA.
Here are two YouTube clips that will help describe what ID.me is, why the VFW uses it, and how to set it up.

ID.me Sign Up Tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNlIeiXEvJ8
You will want to measure your head before starting your order.
This scale is for both men and women.
